Frequently Asked Questions

Yes! Just give us a call to schedule the time and date that is most convenient for you and your family and friends.

Elective means something that is not medically necessary, which YOU choose just for fun or peace of mind. Insurance does not cover elective ultrasounds, and we make no claims that 3D/4D as used in this examination is performed as a medical assessment. A medical ultrasound should have already been performed as part of your prenatal care.

2D is a flat black and white image showing a cross section of your baby, typically used for diagnostic scans. 3D ultrasounds produce a much more realistic still image, which can show the shape and curves of your baby's face and body. 4D ultrasounds add motion and result in showing the 3D image of your baby moving around!

DRINK PLENTY OF WATER!!! Beginning at least 3 to 4 days before your scheduled appointment, drink extra water which can significantly improve the clarity of your ultrasound image. Full figured expectant mothers should consider scheduling their 3D/4D ultrasound between 28 and 32 weeks for best results. We recommend scheduling your appointment at time of day when your baby is typically awake or moving during our hours of operation. Also, pay attention if eating or not eating affects how active and alert your baby is when scheduling the time of your appointment. A wiggly baby can result in better ultrasound images and videos!

Our family-sized ultrasound room can comfortably fit 5-6 people.

A Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) will be performing these exams under the supervision of an OB/GYN, Radiologist, and Nurse practitioner.

Yes, your visit utilizes our time, training, equipment, and services. However, we can offer a free second look if we can't get good images due to your baby's position and/or non-compliance of your baby. Many factors, like your hydration, placenta, umbilical cord, and extremities can interfere with capturing ideal images.

Insurance does not cover these elective non-diagnostic procedures, which is why we frequently offer promotional discounts off of these boutique packages.

They offer a lot of resources for first time mom, with them, I was able to do pregnancy classes, get a doula and do birthing classes. Along with that, you get diapers and wipes for free. Having found out I was pregnant for the first time, I was very excited and came to Guiding Star for help. They were very attentive and understanding to every thing I had to say as well as any questions I had. Unfortunately, I miscarried a few weeks after going but even then, the women there helped me grieve properly and gave me a feeling of comfort and knowing that I wasn't alone helped me immensely. I recommend this place for first time or even fifth time moms, everyone there is always ready to help.

They went above and beyond the staff there made me feel so welcomed and loved. They gave me so much information and also sent me home with my own ultra sound pictures and gift basket for my baby. I signed up for classes also for free. They also offer counseling whenever you made need. The best part was how easy and comforting all the employees made me feel the moment I called for questions till the moment I left the office.
